We want to end the year by digging deep in a series called Core Christianity. The chapter / sermon outlines and title comes from Michael Horton’s book, Core Christianity: Finding Yourself in God’s Story. The goal is to land heavy, ground-level doctrine and truth, but to do so in a way that is digestible for people at any level in their faith. Horton sets it up this way:
“A lot of Christians take their story – the narratives that give rise to their beliefs – for granted. They pray, go to church, perhaps even read their Bible. But they might be stymied if a stranger asked them to explain what they believe and why they believe it. The purpose of this book (series) is to help you understand the reason for your hope as a Christian so that vou can invite others into the conversation. This book is for those who are tired of being starring characters in their own life movie. You want to be written into God's unfolding drama. But how [and where] do I start?”
We hope to answer those questions and more as we explore Core Christianity. Due to the timing of the series, it will lead us through Advent with some sweet connections to promise, joy, Jesus, and waiting.
Whether you already have a podcasting app or want to use our own Church Center, we’ve made it as easy as we can for you to find our weekly sermons.
Every so often, we’ll record a recap of a class, post audio from a Family Meeting, or capture a roundtable conversation we have about a particular topic.
This a reflection on the fourth in our five-part class called Indivisible, where we fight for unity in Christ within a politically diverse local church. This week we try to recapture the highpoints of our conversation that followed the big question, “Will we love the church in November?”
