The Nature of Prayer
(Luke 11:1-13)

The habit of prayer aligns our desires with God in persistence, bringing growth rooted in God’s revealed nature.

The habit of prayer is rooted in…

  1. …an intimate relationship and alignment with God. (1-4)

  2. …bold persistence. (5-8)

  3. …confidence in God’s good nature and provision. (9-13)

Reflection Questions

  • What has kept you from prayer? How can focusing on God’s good nature and all-consuming grace draw you to persistence in prayer? What is a step you can take to cultivate the habit of prayer? (Schedule it, journal, prayer partner, rhythms)

  • What part of Christ’s prayer could you put more regularly into your prayers? (Adoration, Submission, Petition, Confession, Help with Temptation)

  • Are you mindful of the Holy Spirit’s role in prayer comfort in your prayers when you are at a lack of words? How can knowing God understands you in this spur you to pray more and with others?
