Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus through the Spiritual Disciplines

Hear his voice. Have his ear. Belong to his body.

Three seemingly unremarkable principles shape and strengthen the Christian life: listening to God’s voice, speaking to him in prayer, and joining together with his people as the church. Though often viewed as normal and routine, the everyday “habits of grace” we cultivate give us access to these God-designed channels through which his love and power flow―including the greatest joy of all: knowing and enjoying Jesus.

A Bible You’ll Read • The best bible is the one you’ll actually read. We use the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) for its faithfulness and readability. Feel free to grab a free copy at the Connect Desk! You can also download the Bible app for free.

A Journal You’ll Write In • One of the most helpful ways to slow down, take your thoughts captive, and chart your prayers is to have a journal on-hand. You can use a blank journal in whatever way you’d like, or you can get journals that guide you through what to write.

A Devotional You’ll Use • Devotionals can supplement daily bible reading. The Bible Recap will help you thoughtfully walk through the whole bible in a year. Paul Tripp also has two devotionals we recommend: Everyday Gospel, which also follows a yearly bible reading plan, and New Morning Mercies, which is a more topical, one-page devotional.

Gather with us Regularly!

One of the easiest ways to support your daily walk with the Lord is to gather weekly with the local church. Worshiping alongside others in prayer, scripture, and song is a healthy part of reorienting your heart, mind, and soul towards the Lord and his people.
