It’s impossible to show hospitality if you’re all by yourself! How is hospitality - by nature - a thing that requires other people?
Read Acts 2:42-47. Let your imagination linger for a minute and consider what that might look like today. What strikes you about the picture of the church here? Why?
Consider hospitality, in particular. How do we see outsiders, strangers, etc. being welcomed into the family of God… by God… through the people of God?
As hundreds and thousands of people were suddenly becoming Christians, it was likely a little chaotic. How might devotion to God’s Word and to God’s [growing] people lead to “being together and having all things in common” - not division, confusion, and more chaos? Is that surprising?
How does this text challenge us to see risks to comfort, ease, and the “status quo” as opportunities for the gospel to shine bright through hospitality?
How might the church’s hospitality play a part in more and more people being saved?
Think about your own story. What role has the hospitality of God through the church played in you becoming a Christian. joining the church, sticking with the church, and/or anything else?
As a group, what does it look like for you to be hospitable together - requiring coordination, sharing, collaboration, etc.?
Are there ways you can be hospitable better - or even only - when you’re hospitable together instead of on your own?
