COVID Guidelines | January 2022

Hey all!

The CDC recently updated their guidelines for those who have been exposed to and tested positive for COVID-19. These guidelines are significant to Village life as we strive to gather and serve safely, wisely, and with a clean conscience. For the sake of clarity, unty, and living above reproach as a church, we want to make sure you - our leaders! - are aware of these latest changes.

  • People who have tested positive for COVID: They should isolate for at least five days, regardless of symptoms. Once five days have passed and symptoms have begun to lessen, they can stop isolating. However, they should wear a mask whenever they're around others for an additional five days.

  • People who have been exposed to COVID: For people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted, five-days of quarantine followed by five days of strict mask-wearing are recommended.

Individuals who have received their booster shot do not need to quarantine following an exposure, but should wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure.

Everyone who is exposed should be tested five days after exposure.

As you know, these new recommendations aren’t opportunities for guilting, shaming, or coercing others on your team, in your group, or anywhere! Those things have no place in a community formed and sent by the gospel of grace. By bringing these guidelines to your attention, we hope to minimize the confusion and contention that can often arise in uncertain situations when someone tests positive or is exposed to COVID. While we’ll never posture ourselves as public health experts or pretend to have all the answers, if you or someone on your team or in your group questions, don’t hestiate to reach out to us (the elders).

Thank you! It’s because of your personal ownership of the community and mission of The Village that our folks have been able to experience a community marked by a steadfastness, understanding, and righteousness that comes from Christ alone. Much love!
