The Habit of Gratitude
(Colossians 3:12-17)

The habit of gratitude begins and ends with knowing what we deserve, and what we get (through Christ) instead.

  1. The foundation of gratitude is peace with God. (12-15)

  2. The encouragement of gratitude is the word of God. (16)

  3. The action of gratitude is in the name of God. (17)

Reflection Questions

  • What specific area of your life—a relationship, a task, or a circumstance—is currently ruled by grumbling instead of by the peace of Christ?

  • How can you "put on" the truth of God's forgiveness in Christ to counter your discontentment and stir a thankful heart?

  • What is one "whatever you do" (word or deed) that you will commit to doing this week with intentional thankfulness to God?
