About Us

Who We Are

We are a community of broken, sinful people who have found forgiveness, freedom, and purpose in the good news of Jesus. Together we encourage each other to carry out the mission of the church: to LOVE the Lord and our neighbor, LIVE out the Scriptures, and MOVE to engage our culture with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Village isn't the church in town, but it's certainly a church that loves Jesus, the Bible, and our city.

What We Love

Jesus

What defines us as Christians is Christ. The Village loves God above all things and lifts up Jesus as our only hope, ultimate joy, and perfect Savior. At the center of everything we do and say is the gospel: the good news that Jesus lived the life we should've lived, died the death we should've died, and freely offers us the eternal life, peace, and joy that we can't get on our own.

The Bible

What we know about Jesus, we know from the Bible. The Village teaches, preaches, and submits to the whole Bible - Old and New Testaments, easy and difficult passages, practical commands and theological truths - because we believe the whole Bible is the very word of God. We care infinitely more about what God has to say than anybody else says, and so we strive not to pack our ideas into the Bible, but rather unpack God's ideas already contained in it.

Our City

When we love Jesus and the Bible, we're driven to love our city because we already know how much we're loved. Hamilton is our home, its people are our neighbors, and its renewal is our aim. We want to serve people, bless people, connect with people, and invite people into God's work of restoring heavy hearts and creating new life in an old city.

What We Do

Gather

We don't go to church. Rather, we gather as the church throughout the week. The church is simply a committed body of believers who have bought into a common mission and live together in community - not just for a couple of hours on Sunday morning, but seven days a week. Community groups - pockets of people who live openly and authentically with one another - gather once a week in fellowship, devotions, and service to foster those relationships among a smaller circle of folks.

Scatter

Ultimately, we gather together on Sundays, Wednesdays and other times throughout the week so that we can scatter throughout the city and into our daily lives. By regularly gathering as the church, we refresh, refuel, and refocus one another so that we can engage people - from strangers on the street to our best friend - with the same love, grace, and mercy that we have been shown by Jesus.
